TIGHT ENDS
Tony Gonzalez
was the only player to receive a first-place from every expert in this poll,
and he finished comfortably ahead of Todd Heap for the top spot at
tight end. The Falcons promise to use Alge Crumpler more as a
receiver this season, and he edged out Jeremy Shockey for third.
Some experts are likely concerned about Shockey’s foot and leg injuries.
However, one cannot overlook the fact that he finished 11th among
tight ends in fantasy points in 2003 despite missing half of the season.
Rookie Kellen
Winslow received a lot of respect, and finished fifth in the voting.
All but one expert put him in the top 10. Dallas running back Julius
Jones was the only other rookie to receiving any votes (a total of two)
in the poll.
The rest of the top
15 featured some fresh faces, including Boo Williams (6th),
Antonio Gates (9th), Dallas Clark (10th),
and Erron Kinney (15th). With a lack of talent at wide
receiver, many experts see Gates catching a lot of balls in San Diego this
season. Krueger
went so far as to rank the former basketball player at No. 3.
